Who you love or the color of your skin
Or the place that you were born and grew up in
Shouldn’t decide how you will be treated
Cause we’re all the same when everybody’s breathing
Waiting for a change.
I’m just coming across this song “Change” that Christina Aguilera released in early 2016. While late––under a rock late––I found the timing of my discovery to be just right.
Today, America’s Electors confirmed the unpopular vote for President-elect. Yesterday, I picked up a few books. Two of which were Diane Guerrero’s “In the Country We Love” (immigration, undocumented) and Trevor Noah’s “Born A Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood” (apartheid). And, of course, the devastating news that despite a cease-fire, bombs have resumed to fall over Aleppo.
Sometimes when I’m searching for a miracle, it simply cannot be found. Well, the one that is most wanted anyhow.
At any cost, I’m not going to sit on my hands because some miracle didn’t occur. The innocence of humanity doesn’t deserve that.
Finding inspiration in the chaos.
